A Clovis Legacy, Carried Forward

For many people in Clovis and Eastern New Mexico, the name Eastern New Mexico Glass is familiar. It’s a name associated with broken windows fixed properly, glass replaced without shortcuts, and a local operation people could rely on.

That name still matters today — not as a separate chapter, but as part of a much larger story.

Eastern New Mexico Glass lives on through M-Core Construction, continuing to serve Clovis, Portales, and surrounding communities with professional glass repair, replacement, and installation services rooted in decades of earned experience.

The Work Came First

In the early 2000s, A.J. Moreno didn’t enter construction with a grand plan or a long résumé. He entered it by working.

After graduating high school, he chose hands-on experience over a traditional path, taking local jobs throughout Clovis that involved flooring, windows, and residential installations. What stood out to him early on wasn’t just the pay — it was the satisfaction of seeing something finished, knowing it was done correctly, and being able to stand behind it.

That mindset led A.J., at just 19 years old, to start M-Core Construction, partnering with his parents so the company could be properly licensed and operating right away. In those early years, M-Core handled whatever the community needed — from floors and blinds to windows and general home improvements.

When Lowe’s opened locally, M-Core became its first installer, taking on a wide range of installations and learning quickly how to manage volume, timelines, and customer expectations. That period shaped the company’s work ethic and flexibility.

Eastern New Mexico Glass Becomes Part of the Foundation

Not long after M-Core was established, a routine job led A.J. to a local glass shop he hadn’t worked with before: Eastern New Mexico Glass.

The business had an established history in Clovis, and when the opportunity arose to acquire it, A.J. made a deliberate decision — to carry the name forward rather than replace it.

Eastern New Mexico Glass became the local glass identity within M-Core. The learning curve was real. Glass work allows no room for error, and every job became a lesson in precision, safety, and accountability. Over time, the name continued to stand for dependable glass repair and replacement throughout Eastern New Mexico.

Leaving Town to Learn More

As the work grew more technical, A.J. realized that to raise the standard at home, he needed to learn from projects much larger than anything available locally.

At a glass industry conference, he met executives from Sierra Glass, one of the most prominent glazing companies working on the Las Vegas Strip. Rather than approaching them for work, he offered something different — his time. A.J. traveled to Las Vegas and worked alongside their teams simply to learn, spending months moving between the shop, the field, and the office to understand large-scale glazing operations from the inside out.

That experience reshaped how he viewed the trade. In environments where nearly every project is custom and often has no precedent, one lesson stood out: no one has all the answers — you earn trust by figuring it out, safely and correctly.

Entering the Las Vegas Market

Years later, circumstances opened the door to something bigger. When Sierra Glass ultimately closed, A.J. took the steps necessary to enter the Las Vegas market himself — attending business law courses, completing licensing requirements, and establishing M-Core Construction as a fully licensed glazing contractor in Nevada.

He hired experienced local crews and built operations from the ground up, applying the same principles learned in Eastern New Mexico: show up early, communicate clearly, and take responsibility for the work.

Over time, M-Core became trusted with complex, high-profile projects across Las Vegas.

Projects That Shaped the Company

Among those projects were installations that tested both skill and confidence.

M-Core completed specialized glazing work at the Grand Canyon Skywalk, contributing to an addition that required extreme precision and safety on sovereign land.

In Las Vegas, M-Core also completed glazing work at Meow Wolf, a project defined by unconventional design, custom glass elements, and one-of-a-kind execution — exactly the kind of work that demands creativity as much as technical skill.

These projects weren’t pursued for recognition. They served as proof points — experiences that strengthened systems, raised expectations, and reinforced the company’s ability to solve problems others couldn’t.

What That Experience Means Back Home

While projects in Las Vegas may be larger in scale, the standards they demand directly benefit customers in Eastern New Mexico.

Today, Eastern New Mexico Glass — operating as part of M-Core Construction — brings those same principles to residential and light commercial glass work in Clovis and Portales:

The name Eastern New Mexico Glass represents continuity. It reflects a local legacy supported by experience earned far beyond the region — then brought back home.
